My (very personal) War Against Cellulite Looking at last summer’s poolside photos, I finally but reluctantly accepted the fact that something needed to be done about my cellulite. In the last year my weight had ballooned to 160. At just 5’3” tall, this made me more than just “plump.” A lot of my clothes no longer fit me; all I wore was black, as I thought it made me look slimmer and hid my cellulite. I never wanted to put on that dreaded bikini and head out to the beach. Even though he said I looked fine, I felt that that my boyfriend no longer really saw me the same way. I was becoming increasingly depressed and often felt too ashamed to go out in a skirt or shorts. I've tried a lot of different weight loss methods and beauty products over the years, from diet pills to eating plans and the gym, but have all resulted in losing only a few pounds and then gaining it right back after the pills/eating plan/gym have stopped. Even when I did lose weight, the cellulite never seemed to budge - in fact it seemed to get worse! Nothing ever seemed to work. When a friend mentioned Lipomassage treatments by Endermologie, I was pretty skeptical. I had heard about Liposuction - one of my other friends (who shall remain unnamed) had liposuction on her thighs and was unhappy with the results. She was skinnier, but still had cellulite and uneven bumpy skin. It wasn’t pretty. The idea of surgery scared me. My friend assured me that Lipomassage was entirely different. She showed me a brochure that claimed “Lipomassage is a totally non-surgical treatment that smoothes cellulite, improves local blood and lymphatic circulation.” Okay…. Well, it might be worth looking into. I went in for my consultation and was actually impressed. The staff at the doctor’s office was very professional and friendly. They outlined the Lipomassage procedure in detail and answered all my questions. From the first consultation, right through to my massage treatments, I was made to feel welcome and supported in my body image goals. The doctor encouraged me with her realistic (yet optimistic!) expectations about my body sculpting and the staff provided me the ongoing, hands-on therapy and moral support I needed. Here’s how it works: (from a brochure in doc’s office) “The Lipomassage device is made with motorized rollers; these help ‘fold’ and ‘unfold’ the skin at different speeds, resulting in an intensive massage session that can break down trapped fatty pockets and smooth out fat clusters or tissues causing dimpled skin.” The doctor said that “most people need between six to ten treatments to see lasting results, and visible results can be achieved after the first 2-3 treatments” (I saw results after 2 treatments!). I have to say I was a little skeptical at first, but now I have done 10 sessions on my thighs and I'm very happy I took the chance because this treatment actually works! I cannot believe the difference it has made to the appearance of my legs. I finally can wear shorts again! Next stop (hopefully): Bikini! I didn't expect the results to be this good. I have been exercising for ages and still had cellulite. Endermologie has definitely made the difference. Lipomassage has made an amazing difference in my life. This has been the best thing I have done for myself. The positive changes to my body shape, self esteem and body image have been wonderful. My friends have noticed a major change in my appearance and personal confidence. I would recommend this to anyone who truly wants to see changes in their bodies. Good luck!
