Understanding Neurological Dysfunctions that Lead to
Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Digestive Problems, and More
By Dr. Gilbert Jaudy

Every time a patient comes in  to our facility for either a consultation, examination or treatment, he or she tells me ONE common statement. “I have seen many doctors for many years and no one has given an answer as to WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?”
I hear you and feel your frustration. There’s nothing more frustrating in life than carrying a basketful of symptoms, medications, supplements, diagnoses, X-rays, reports, blood tests…etc, from one doctor to another and still feel either the same or even getting worse.  At this stage, you have lost your job, spent a fortune (or all your fortune) on various treatment protocols and doctors, your personal life is ruins, your family is affected, your quality of life is lost, your pains and aches make you short-tempered and irritable, you can not even enjoy doing 10 percent of the things you like to do, or used to do.  Many patients have told me that they wish their life would be over soon.  If you are in this position, you know exactly what I am talking about--because everyday I see the suffering in patients eyes, feel the despair in their words and sense the constant pain that echoes with every word they say.

The information I am going to discuss will give you a glimpse of insight into knowledge and understanding that can allow you to make educated decisions beyond what you’ve been told or diagnosed with.  This article is meant to give you a functional understanding about the symptoms that manifest as a result of the body’s failure to accomplish its task.

Research breakthroughs in Functional Neurology show that there is a missing dimension in health care, which is the MISSING LINK and key to resolving difficult conditions such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.  This dimension is the central integrated state of the brain (CIS) functional approach.  This in simple terms refers to the functional ability of all the body’s systems (hormonal, lymphatic, vascular, glandular, neuromuscular, etc.), to communicate information NEUROLGICALLY to the brain in the most precise manner, like an orchestra in perfect harmony with the maestro—THE BRAIN.  This harmony sets the outcome for the brain’s symphony, our Milieu De’tre which is the masterpiece of who we are.  It is our very existence, and determines the capacity of our human ability to FUNCTION.

If there is decreased ability of the brain to accomplish integrated tasks and meet the physiological demands of the human body (dysfunctions), guess what is going to happen?  Symptoms will flare up!  The question is how do we view and treat these dysfunctions resulting in symptoms?  You would never think of putting duct tape over a check engine light when it came on in your car and keep driving.  So, if your body is expressing symptoms, it’s just like the oil light in your car going on.  Your body doesn’t have bells, whistles, and warning lights.  It has SYMPTOMS—pain, sleep problems, headaches.  If not functionally addressed, it will only get worse.

For instance if you have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome, or any chronic condition, there could be 500 reasons why you have the symptoms, and it is NOT the same for every person.  Therefore, we do not want to get caught up in what is called a traditional diagnosis because that is just the starting point.  It gives the doctor an idea of the patient’s condition, but not the mechanism.

There is no coincidence in the links between fibromalgia and active brain research.  A study in the Journal of Neuroscience has reported that the longer you have fibromyalgia, the faster your brain dies, with each year being equal to 9.5 times more the loss of brain tissue in normal aging!  Another study points to abnormal brain processing in fibromyalgia patients, which will be the topic of this discussion.  More research supports that brain dysfunction precedes fibromyalgia.

So with all these facts, it would be reasonable to pause, and ask, “what is the cause of my symptoms?”  A question that you have probably seen many doctors for, gotten different diagnoses, heard different explanations, and taken different medications which have either stopped working or caused you serious side effects.

Here is a simple explanation and example:  All information to and from our body passes through the brainstem on the way to or from the brain.

Think of the brain as a major electric fuse box for a building with several rooms and divisions.  In order to get electricity to any division all connections have to be positively and negatively wired.  If not, then a short circuit happens, then lights go off, and connections are lost with the central fuse box.  As such, a short circuit in the brain could take out several light bulbs (body structures such as limbs, organs, etc.) in our body internally.  These faulty pathways can lead to recurrent and spontaneous episodes of depression, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, dizziness, digestive disorders, weight problems, chronic or unexplained back and neck pain, and neurological disorders.

The wiring is still there.  It is not cut, but it is not running at 100 percent.  There is an electrical imbalance in the brain circuitry.    If one part of the brain begins to function less than optimally, messages are misinterpreted by the brain cells and can get jumbled or amplified.  This in scientific terms is called Functional Disconnection Syndrome.  Once short circuits develop in the system, they persist.  The control center is situated in the brainstem.

Herein lies the doctor’s skill and ability to understand, recognize and interpret the importance of body responses in the form of neurological tests and signs to restore proper pathway communication non-invasively and without chemicals.

I have many patients notice that after only a few sessions into the treatment they are losing unwanted weight-- although they are actually eating more.  This is because organs are now neurologically functioning at a higher level, raising the metabolic rate.  Enzymes can then be secreted if organs are functioning properly.

The research of brain mapping and fixing dysfunctions through neurological circuitry is at the forefront of modern science.  The advanced breakthroughs and applications in Functional Neurology provide for quality of life and answers long sought for the restoration of health and function.

We have one body, one nervous system, and one life.  Let’s not part with any one of them.  Copyright Jaudy 2009
