The Triangle of Health: Keys to Success in Regaining Health
By Judi Nicely

With the New Year upon us, many people will begin with New Year resolutions.  I think most people’s goal is to lose weight and /or become healthy.  Basically, to feel good again, like we did when we were younger.  Well, you don’t have to fail at your resolution this year!  I am going to explain the Triangle of Health to you, so that in becoming healthy, the weight will simply melt off.

The first side of the Triangle of Health is to detox the heavy metals and chemicals from your body.  This is not the simple do-it-yourself cleanse that you read about online or in a magazine.  Detoxing is complex and should be individualized and monitored.  Many people come into my office stating that they have no toxins as they completed a 3-day or 3-week cleanse.

Yes, they may have cleared some toxins from the digestive tract and ‘feel’ better, but what about the toxins that are deep within the brain, organs and glands that are causing destruction and dysfunction to occur?  Using a technique called Nutrition Response Testing, I am able to test the brain, organs, glands and skin to find out which areas are being stressed, and identify the stressor.  I am able to check for heavy metals, chemicals, yeast/fungus, parasites, bacteria, virus and allergies.  I can then test to see what YOUR body wants (not just put you on a generic protocol as most practitioners do) to detox, repair and regenerate the organs and glands.

We can find the root cause of a problem, instead of placing a Band-Aid on your symptoms with drugs or surgery.  An example would be Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Colitis/Crohn’s).  Doctors say there is no cure and all they can do is give you drugs to help ease the symptoms.  However, I am able to go directly to the bowel and conduct a test to see what is causing the problem.  It may be pesticides, yeast, chemicals, etc.  We detox the causative stressor and repair the damage that has been done.

Your body has an innate intelligence that you are able to tap into, if you posses the knowledge and skill.  NRT is a remarkable technique and I am one of a very few who is extremely experienced at performing this health-restoring/disease-preventive treatment.

For the weight loss aspect of NRT…toxins are stored in fat cells.  The more toxins you have, and we are all saturated with them, the more fat cells you typically will need to store them.  As you detox, the need for the fat is diminished.  This is actually a protective mechanism for the body.  Just because you are thin doesn’t mean that you do not have toxins, but that is something we can discuss at another time.

The second side of the Triangle of Health is Hormone Balance.  The majority of women, and many men, are Estrogen Dominant, meaning more estrogen in relation to progesterone.  Whether you’re experiencing PMS symptoms, menopause or andropause, the imbalance is a causative factor.  This can happen prior to puberty until death.  This imbalance can increase your risk of breast or uterine cancer, thyroid dysfunction, increased abdominal fat, anxiety, depression, etc.

Hypothyroidism is an epidemic in our country.  Doctors do their patients a disservice by performing minimal testing for thyroid function.  Millions of women are wandering from practitioner to practitioner trying to find out why they are so tired, overweight/can’t lose weight, cold, constipated, having hair loss, dry skin/hair, and many other symptoms.  They end up on an antidepressant so they won’t feel so bad about feeling so bad.  Proper testing is the key and thyroid is my expertise.

Then there are the adrenals.  Most people in this country are in adrenal fatigue or complete adrenal exhaustion by the time they are 35.  Stressful lives and the toxic condition of the body cause the adrenals to overwork - and they can only do that for so long.  Adrenal dysfunction affects your energy level, blood pressure, blood sugar regulation, mood, concentration, bone and muscle growth, abdominal fat, thyroid function, and risk of some cancers.

For the weight loss aspect of hormone balance, estrogen dominance and high cortisol can cause an increase in abdominal fat.  However, not having abdominal fat does not exclude you from having imbalances in these hormones.  Hypothyroidism slows down the rate that the body burns fat and can therefore cause weight gain throughout the body.  I do want to briefly mention the Neurotransmitters of the brain (Serotonin, Dopamine, etc.): they work together with the hormones in the body and it is essential that they all are in a balanced state or it can result in dysfunctions in the brain and body.

The final side of the Triangle of Health is Alkalizing the body.  When we are born, we have an alkaline pH, which quickly becomes acidic due to the foods and liquids we put in our bodies (even bottled and filtered waters).  Stress and toxins create much acid in our bodies.  Healthy cells cannot live in an acidic body, but bacteria, viruses, parasites, yeast and CANCER thrive in an acidic environment.  When one starts to become alkalized, diseases such as arthritis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and even cancers begin to resolve.  Energy levels increase, brain function becomes more clear and focused and the weight loss aspect of Alkalizing is - acids are buffered by fat.  So, as you begin to eliminate the acids from the body, the need for the fat is again diminished, as with the loss of toxins.

So, there you have the 3 factors in the Triangle of Health.
