Softener or Filtration

If you are considering an upgrade to your home water system, here are some things to keep in mind. 
  
Any company that makes product performance claims or product benefit claims suggests that their device affects the health or the safety of drinking water.  Start with a system that is “certified”.  That little word, “certified” means the salesperson can lie to you.  The assumption is that someone else (an expert) went through everything with a fine-toothed comb, picking out what isn’t exactly true and forcing an accurate representation of exactly what the unit can (and cannot) do.  Make sure your water company can prove that their product actually does what it claims.  

Make sure there is a warranty! Having your system break down is like a paper cut. It’s not going to kill you but it’s annoying.  Not having a warranty in place and having to shell out big bucks to fix the system is more than annoying – it’s painful! That’s like massaging lemon juice into your paper cut!  Buying the right system may just be your last one.  
    
All water softeners use the same operating principle. They trade the minerals for sodium or potassium chloride (salt chemicals). The process is called ion exchange.  Hard water poses no health hazard. On the other hand, the salt that remains in softened water may be a problem for those on salt restricted diets (ask your doctor). 

Hard Water problems can be solved by electronic impulses that de-crystallize the hard water.  Healthier minerals like calcium and magnesium, which we need for our bodies, can remain in our water. This is simply better for the body the home, and the environment.
