What Skin Care Is Right
For You? Doesn’t it seem that everywhere you look, someone is offering skincare? From the local nail spa, salons, day spas and skincare studios; even at your doctor’s offices! And then there are your department stores - and don’t forget the internet super skincare highway! So, why the craze? Haven’t we had our skin all our lives? Skin care services have been the hub of salons and spas for decades. When you have questions about your skin, need skin care products, and a good facial treatment, you visit your skin care professional. A Licensed Esthetician in the State of California should offer a variety of facial services based on your skin type, and services such as waxing (hair removal) and cosmetic services. Additional experience and certifications are required to do Microdermabrasion, Resurfacing Treatments, and Chemical Peels. Ask for the length of experience your Esthetician has in these areas. When you have more complex skin concerns, such as acne and acne scarring, hyper pigmentation (brown discolorations), and sun damage, a comprehensive series of treatments are needed. An in depth consultation is needed to discuss your treatments and home care protocol. The beauty industry standard recommends a series of six treatments, usually 2 weeks apart. After your series, it is a good time to evaluate your progress to determine if additional treatments are needed for your specific skin concerns, or what is needed to maintain good skin. One very important factor in developing a good skincare program is based on what products you use at home on a daily basis. It does not have to be extensive, just appropriate for your personal skin needs. Skin care products vary greatly in their strength and ability to penetrate the skin as well as deliver the vital nutrients. Generally speaking, your “Over The Counter” products (department and drug store and home-party skincare) do not have the same strength ingredients as “professional only” products. An Esthetician can offer a professional recommendation on an individual basis after a consultation is preformed. Caring for your skin is as important as caring for your body. Beautiful skin begins within! How ever you choose to care for your skin, remember that your face is the first thing people pay attention to.
