Lori Dawn Q & A #1—Wardrobe: The cheapest way to change-up your wardrobe is to have a “change-up” party. It doesn’t cost you a penny! Get two or three friends to come to your house, go through your clothes and accessories, and have them put outfits together. Friends usually know your style and how you wear your clothes. Have them look at your wardrobe with new eyes. We often get stuck in a rut and our eyes don’t see new ways of creativity for ourselves. This can be a ton of fun—and often you feel like you’ve gotten a whole new wardrobe. Be sure to reciprocate and do the same for them. Remember to include the accessories—belts, scarves, jewelry, shoes, bags, etc.. Another inexpensive way to change things up is to purchase some new updated accessories. Sometimes this is enough of a change and accessories can go with many different outfits. If you want to make a clothing purchase, make wise choices. Pick something that will mix and match with what you already have to make the most use of the wardrobe as a whole. Think about what would benefit you the most—tops, pants, skirts, etc., then think about the colors you have and what color you want to purchase. These tricks can keep you from being overwhelmed, and make shopping easier! Have fun with the experience. #2—Hair: Remember, hair for many women can define the difference between a good or bad day! The key for you is a low-maintenance haircut—something that looks good and stylish, but grows out nicely. The Posh Spice A-line bob is a high maintenance cut—meaning it needs to be maintained in the salon every five weeks. A good quality, low maintenance cut can last two to three months if need be. The same goes for hair color. Keeping something closer to your natural color is less costly to maintain than something out of your natural color scheme. You can still have some hi-lites, but have them strategically placed so you don’t see the outgrowth as much. This keeps the maintenance of your hi-lites low as well—lasting three to four months. #3: The most important factor is that you don’t neglect yourself. You feeling great about yourself is a wonderful asset to your family and those around you. If you don’t take care of you, how can you effectively take care of others? It’s okay to be frugal, especially in these times—but not doing anything for yourself can be detrimental to your mind and spirit. Give yourself permission to look and feel beautiful.
