WHOLE FOOD SUPPLEMENTS
(What does that mean?)

There are two completely different types of dietary supplements, synthetic and whole food.  All vitamins and minerals do not come from the same source.  Many Americans are under the impression that the commercials seen on television are the only option for their vitamin supplements.  These manstream vitamin supplements are definitely not whole food derived.
So, where do they come from?

The popular mainstream supplements that are available at your grocery store are actually made from synthetic material.  Synthetic supplements are made by creating a chemical copy of what is naturally occurring in food and synthetically reproducing.  It is much cheaper to make synthetic supplements than it is to extract vitamins from whole food.  As for many mineral supplements, they are taken from a rock source rather than a whole food source.  Mountains are full of minerals, the only problem is that we don’t eat mountains.  Also, I can’t remember the last time I sat down and enjoyed the nourishment I received from a test tube!

So, what are these synthetic, foreign materials doing in our bodies?  Not much!  Most of the ingredients listed on the bottles is being eliminated through urination, and just a very small amount is being absorbed.  When you use a whole food supplement, you are receiving nutrients derived from fruit, vegetables and herbs, as well as all the co-factors (enzymes, amino acids, etc.) that go with them.  Your body immediately recognizes these nutrients and absorbs them naturally and totally!  So, once you’ve selected the right whole food supplement at a store that specializes,  and you find yourself a little hungry go enjoy an apple, not a picture of one.
