Centered by Design

I like to refer to the everyday human as the walking dead: over-stressed, tired, and lonely. Forever searching for meaning, these zombies turn to smoking, drinking, drugs, sugar, food and the big thief-- television-- to fill the void. They've become numb to the ever calling voice inside that whispers “Never give up hope.” Sadly, many people come and go, denied of the privilege of knowing just how to find their center.

I was once one of them. I would wake daily to ready myself for man's “manufactured world,” stopping momentarily to look at my backside skin to see if there was a tag attached that said "made in China.” When I glanced back in that mirror I was unable to recognize, and had no time to even ask, who the person staring back at me was. I was just another cog in the wheel of the world, without a meaning or purpose beyond my daily routine.

Then one day an acquaintance I knew stopped me in the street and said to me, "It is not all about you, it is all for you. You do not have to do anything; you get to choose to be everything." This simple statement takes new meaning for me every rung of the ladder I step upon. It inspires me daily to rise out of the depths of this world of smoke and mirrors. Blessed with this body, I am a spirit being having a human experience: learning to pay my bills, alive, excited for the gift of a new day. I am fully reaching to be myself, to teach all that I know and have been taught. And when illusion, constant in its chaos, taunts and tests to see if I am center, I stand firm and BE who I AM.

Take action in your own life and learn to rise above ordinary and become extraordinary. If not now... when? If not you...who?
