AUTISM, ADHD & ALZHEIMER’S, What Have We Done?

Melinda Fouche’ The Fouche’ Institute

Headlines report increasingly higher rates of autism and ADHD in children and Alzheimer’s in adults—especially in California.  With one new child officially diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder every two hours and one out of every eight adults being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, we are witnessing a whopping 400% increase in just 10 short years, and no one knows why.  It’s like something right out of a science fiction novel, enough to scare anyone, but is it enough to motivate people to stop vaccinating or using cell phones?  I doubt it.

It’s human nature to point the finger, find blame and hope for obvious answers and quick solutions.  This stems from the current medical model, based on Pasteur’s germ theory.  Kill the microbe, cut out the tumor, and all will be well again.  But this rarely works.

Anyone who has ever had a sore throat, ear infection or cancer knows, if you don’t find and correct the causes, it always comes back, and often with a vengeance!  I once had a professor say, “If you cut out the cancer but leave the energetic cyst in the soul, the body will rebuild the organ.” I’ve listened to thousands of clients tell me about repeated bouts of Candida, strep throat or chronic bronchitis, that no amount of antifungal or antibiotic ever helped.  By the time they try alternatives they have usually lost faith in modern medicine and done so much damage it takes years to turn it around and restore balance in the body, though it can be done.

With any disease or illness, regardless of its diagnostic code or medical name, there are always multiple causes and in the case of neurological disorders, these causes include many things that have become so much a part of our lives, we think we cannot live without them.  Take microwaves and cordless phones for example.  Can we really revert backwards and find a safer alternative?  Our exposure to electromagnetic fields is increasing daily.  We live in a sea of wave emissions, from all the appliances and engines in our homes and offices to all the satellites and blue tooth technologies everywhere.  There’s NO escape, and anyway, we can’t go backwards, we have to go forward and develop solutions now to this problem.

Another problem is our horrific diet, it’s been stripped, denatured, preserved, colored and artificially “enhanced” with chemicals for visual and taste appeal, making millions of Americans addicted to junk food and chronically sick, tired and over-weight.  In fact, it’s been estimated that we consume an average of 20 pounds of herbicides and pesticides annually even if we eat organic produce!

Then there’s the chemicals we’re exposed to in our environment, including our air and water and all that doesn’t even include all the polluted pollens and dust we inhale into our lungs—up to 500 chemicals bombarding our detoxification system on a daily basis.  To put it mildly, it’s just too much for most of us to safely be exposed to without obvious risks and problems.

Then when we factor in all the genetic risks we were born with, added to the ever-increasing everyday stress of just being alive in this age, is it any wonder we’re falling apart?  The most vulnerable among us, our children and senior citizens, have become the canaries in the coal mines, warning us that our world is unfit for human consumption.  But like frogs swimming around in a toxic soup as the temperature increases slowly, we have grown accustomed to all this toxicity and denatured food and don’t even realize what is happening until it’s right in our faces.  Ten years ago we only read about an occasional autistic child or adult with Alzheimer’s, today, it’s one in every eight adults and one in every 60 little boys and it’s about to break the system, financially.

So is there any hope?  Is there a way out?
In my opinion there is always hope and always a way out of the darkest tunnel, but medical intervention is probably not going to be a light at the end of this tunnel.  While we do need medicine and surgery for emergencies, there just isn’t going to be a magic pill for this mess.  The answer doesn’t lie in another pill or potion, the answers and solutions will come from the alternative medical community.  The solutions will not be simple, and they will require a prescription for living instead of a pharmaceutical.

We have to learn how to become and stay healthy—physically, mentally and emotionally.  We have to become conscious and informed about health and wellness.  We need to eat organic fruits and vegetables, and refrain from genetically modified foods.  We must train ourselves to drink more water instead of filling up on chemicals like addictive and caffeinated beverages.   When we start to eat a healthy diet, we become more resistant to the effects of our toxic world.  We also have to learn about detoxification and how to help our bodies release all the trash they have accumulated through the years.

While we may not be able to halt the progression of neurological disorders overnight, we can take one step at a time to clean of our diet, clean up our environment and begin to detoxify.  If you are ready to take the first step, you may want to start with a naturopathic physician who focuses on detoxification and customized nutritional planning.  It’s a New Year and time for a New You.  Take the first step, for yourself and your family.  Start the New Year out with a resolution to detoxify and go organic.  Replace sodas with more water and herbal iced tea drinks.  Every day can be the first day of the rest of your life of health and wellness.
