How to Be Psoriasis & Eczema Free

by Samurai Of Light

Psoriasis and eczema are typically identified as “skin diseases.” It’s one of the myths and fallacies surrounding psoriasis and eczema. Even though they “show-up” on the skin, the causes lie deep within. Looked at from a different perspective, it begins to make sense. We’ll explore some of the misconceptions, shedding new light on these ailments and offering a ray-of-hope for those living with these “curses” of the skin.

What is psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a disease manifesting on the skin and/or in the joints. Psoriasis is not contagious.

The growth cycle of skin cells are greatly sped up

Skin grows 10x more rapidly than normal skin (a 30 day cycle)

A psoriatic skin cell takes 3-4 days to mature and move to the surface

Instead of falling off (shedding), cells pile up and form thick lesions

Can affect all parts of the body: scalp, knees, elbows and torso

Can develop anywhere, including nails, palms, soles, genitals and face

From mild to moderate to very severe and disabling

Lesions can appear symmetrically (on right and left sides of body)

         Nails may grow abnormally

         Intense itching and scratching

         30% get psoriatic arthritis

         4% commit suicide

Plaque psoriasis (common form), patches of skin "lesions" become inflamed and are covered by silvery white scales

Guttate psoriasis, small dot-like lesions

Pustular psoriasis, weeping lesions and intense scaling

Inverse psoriasis, intense inflammation

Erythrodermic psoriasis, intense shedding and redness of the skin

What is eczema?

Eczema (or dermatitis), is a group of (really nasty) skin conditions. Although it looks unpleasant, eczema is not contagious.

The severity of the disease can vary

In mild forms the skin is dry, hot and itchy

In more severe forms the skin can become broken, raw and bleeding

Pruritis or itchiness, can be almost unbearable

Overall dryness of the skin, redness and inflammation

Constant scratching causes the skin to split (and prone to infection)

In infected eczema the skin may crack and weep (‘wet’ eczema)

Seasonally, the skin will always be sensitive to flare-ups

Atopic eczema, common form of eczema (linked with asthma and hayfever)

Allergic contact dermatitis, allergic reaction against a substance on skin

Irritant contact dermatitis, frequent contact with detergents and chemicals

Infantile seborrhoeic eczema(cradle cap), affecting babies under 1 year old

Adult seborrhoeic eczema, starts on the scalp as mild dandruff, but can spread to the face, ears and chest

Varicose eczema, skin around the ankles become speckled itchy & inflamed

Discoid eczema, coin shaped areas of red skin, on the trunk or lower legs

Now that we have an understanding of what psoriasis and eczema are, let’s look outside-the-box to discover some amazing “secrets,” shall we?

Secret #1: It’s NOT a skin disease

Definitely not an external problem. It shows up ON the skin, but it doesn’t originate there. That’s why solving the psoriasis and eczema puzzle have been so elusive all these years. If you treat it as a skin problem, you’re missing the “root-cause.”

Not an autoimmune disorder, either. If it were, then it would behave like an HIV related disease, where your immune system shuts down. You can have this for 10, 25, 50 or more years. Ouch!

Secret #2: It’s a “Food Allergy Disease”

It’s really an internal problem, caused by bad food metabolism (with serious blockages at the core-level). It’s like a “cancer” which starts on the INSIDE, and shows up on the outside of your skin. There are certain types of foods you should be tracking and avoiding like the plague, for immediate  relief.

Secret #3: Clear your food allergies & clear your skin

Keep a daily detailed food journal. By keeping track of the foods that make your skin go “crazy,” you’ll regain control over your life. Here are some food groups to avoid:

Stay clear of the nightshades family: mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers

Avoid alcoholic beverages: of any kind

Avoid acid forming foods: Citrus, refined starches

Shellfish: clams, shrimp

“Spicy” spices: like mustard, curry, hot sauces

Highly processed foods: pizza, cereals, sweets

Stay away from “Food Triggers” - foods that you’re allergic to, that can affect your skin. You’ll live a healthier, happier, and higher “Quality of Life!” We’ll cover more “secrets” later. Hope this helps,

Namaste!

P.S. Quick & easy relief of itching & scratching

There are a couple of natural and low cost ways of greatly reducing the itching and scratching of your skin. You can get these in any pharmacy or drug store. They work really well, and they’re relatively inexpensive.

Topical Analgesic Antihistamine Lotion: Caladryl Clear lotion

Moisturizing Lotion: Bag Balm, Udder Cream

Regular Lotion (containing Urea): Tone Body Lotion
