PLUS: A Plus for PMS
A product review by Lauren Del Sarto

Ladies (and their significant others), why is it that with the joy of “that time of the month,” we also have to endure the misery of feeling angry and negative? Wouldn’t it be nice to take one pill to rid yourself of all PMS symptoms? Although there are many good remedies in the health care market, I have yet to find that one miracle supplement. I have, however, found one product that significantly “takes the edge off” when you are feeling angry and negative: Mannatech’s Plus.

I first learned of Plus 10 years ago when I started dating my husband and became stepmom to his two teenaged daughters. A relative of theirs started working with Mannatech and suggested that if, with three women in the mix, hormones led to tension, we should consider Plus. The girls tried the product first and the results were so amazing that I soon followed. Plus simply turns negative moods positive.

How does it work? Mannatech states that Plus is a “glyconutrient,” a blend of plant polysaccharides that “provides the nutrients to support the endocrine system and help your body maintain a healthful balance.” (1)
In researching this, I was surprised to find how little is known about the true causes of PMS, especially considering its history. WebMD states that “the mood changes surrounding (PMS) have been described as early as the time of the ancient Greeks.” However, it was not until 1931 that this disorder was officially recognized by the medical community. The term “premenstrual syndrome” was coined in 1953. As for the cause, WebMD states that “and the more severe form, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), are linked to changes in the endocrine system, which produces hormones that control the menstrual cycle. Because the female endocrine system is so complex, medical experts don't fully understand the chain of events that causes PMS in some women and not others.” (2)
What is the endocrine system? Wikipedia defines it as “a system of glands that involve the release of extracellular signaling molecules known as hormones. The endocrine system is instrumental in regulating metabolism, growth, development and puberty, and tissue function and also plays a part in determining mood.” (3)

So it makes sense that Plus, which is designed to support your endocrine system, can help improve your mood. I can state that for me and many women I know, it does work very well. Those wonderful teen girls, now young adults, still use the product and so do I.
