Addressing The Total Person For Real Results!
By Carolyn J. Dean

It’s amazing that we now have more information on dieting than ever before, and yet we see an alarming rise in obesity among all age groups.  Literally billions of dollars are spent annually on weight loss programs, books and supplements!  Kathy Evans found herself yo-yo dieting and losing and gaining the same pounds over and over again.  She would try every new diet craze that came along but found herself not sticking to her program and regaining all her weight and then some.  Kathy found herself at her lowest point after losing her mother in death.

She now was very depressed, on high blood pressure medicine, cholesterol medication and weighing nearly 250 lbs.  Kathy began her quest to improve her health and now a year later, she explains that her cholesterol is down 50 points and her blood pressure medication has been cut in half!  In only one year she has lost nearly 100 pounds and 10 pant sizes!  Kathy says one of the nicest complements she has recently received, was when she overheard a couple say, “She looks so athletic”.

It took Kathy one year to go from almost 250 pounds to 149 pounds and from a size 20 to a size 10!   What caused her to change this time?  Kathy says,  “It was by addressing me as a total person.  I realized that I needed to do more than just diet.  Diet alone does not work”.  Her husband commented that she would still be dieting today if she had not learned a whole lifestyle change.

When Kathy addressed nutrition to help her to become healthier, she not only lost more weight but learned how to eat for life.  Her family has also benefited by her healthy lifestyle change.  In fact, her husband is now exercising regularly.  She says after enrolling into fitness training camps she has learned how important weight training is in reshaping her body and is now seeing definition in her arms and legs that she hasn’t seen since high school. She further comments, “Even though eating the right food is not always easy, I am motivated to stay on track.  I am thankful for the programs for health and fitness I have learned and how to stay on them.  I have a strong support group and people around me who truly care and cheer me on.”

It’s also motivating for us who have worked with Kathy.  She is focused and loves to exercise now.  Therefore, if you truly want to change and have real results for a lifetime, you need to do more than diet.  You need to learn how to eat for a lifetime, exercise smart and consistently and have good support and motivation.  Changing our bodies, our habits and desires takes time.  Stay away from quick fixes for real results.
